Are learning difficulties causing your son or daughter to fall behind in school? Do you worry about what their future will be? We all want to give our children the best possible start in life. If learning difficulties are preventing your child from maximizing his or her talents, then therapy may be the answer.
Fulfilling their potential
In educational therapy with children, I take an active, hands-on approach. I’ll use the first session to get to know your child, test his or her strengths or weaknesses, and also listen to your concerns. Then the fun starts. I believe that it’s essential that young people enjoy therapy if they are going to make progress. As we progress, I’ll get a good understanding of what your son or daughter enjoys, and select activities that keep him or her enthused and motivated.
It’s not just about having fun, though. Every activity will be carefully selected to improve working memory, visualization, processing, or coordination skills, depending on what it is that your child needs. It’s all about identifying the areas of the brain that have not developed as fast as the others and choosing exercises that will flex the right mental muscles. Employing a mixture of educational and psychological research, I design a customized treatment plan designed to enhance social, academic, and learning performance.
I have a Masters in Education and enjoy working with children of all ages, whether it’s a four-year-old struggling to adapt to kindergarten or a teenager whose learning difficulties are holding him or her back from getting a great result SATs result. One of the most rewarding things about helping young people with learning difficulties is seeing the effect it has on their general well-being. They are not just able to perform better academically, they are happier, less anxious, and able to interact with their peers and approach life with confidence. Every child who I help is a unique privilege.
Educational therapy is not just for young people who are struggling to keep up. Many children and teenagers can cope with the demands of school and other pursuits but are not achieving their peak performance because a learning difficulty is holding them back. The right intervention program can give them the opportunity to truly fulfill their potential and approach life with a new self-confidence and enthusiasm based on the knowledge that they are really firing on all cylinders.
